I drove up to Acadia on a Thursday night/Friday morning in an attempt to avoid traffic. It was a little over 10 hours, and I was definitely tired but happy when I finally arrived. I set up my tent at a campground a little outside the park and then set off to find some beautiful views! I drove quite a bit for this trip, and I have decided that the album of the weekend was Vessel by Twenty One Pilots. I was just really getting in to their music and there are a few songs that still take me back to these memories!

One of my favorite parts was that fall had started to arrive up in Maine at this point. There were trees that had the most brilliant reds and oranges! Sigh…I love fall.
Day one I drove around and hung out for a while on the beaches and enjoyed the view. The water was freezing, so no swimming for me. Although there were more people in the water than I expected!

There were also a lot of small marinas with good food! I stopped around and ate at a few places over the weekend. It was a nice blend of beaches and mountains!

The next day I woke up extra early and decided to drive up to the top of Cadillac mountain to see the sun rise. Apparently me and about 2000 other people had the same idea. It was packed!! But for good reason – this is a bucket list experience if you’ve never seen it. I must admit my sunrise photography still needs some work – if you have any tips I am eager to hear them!

It was very peaceful, even with the large crowd. I love watching the sunrise. Next I was off to keep exploring the peninsula/island to see what else it had to offer! Stop #1 was the lighthouse. One of my favorite parts about photographing national parks is finding a spot that is vaguely familiar – only to realize it seems familiar because its a Windows background!

My afternoon I reserved for hiking around Jordan Pond. So here are some more iconic Acadia pictures I captured 🙂 I LOVE them – so I hope you do too.

After the hike around the pond I stopped in and got one of their famous popovers. I must admit though, there were not what I was expecting! I will never forget that I ordered lemonade and drank it before the waitress could add the sugar. So sour!! I didn’t realize it was a thing to have them add it at the table. Clearly I haven’t been drinking the fancy lemonade. The popovers were also delicious and highly recommended! I was sad to leave this park and make the long trek home but I will definitely be back! Lots of hiking I still have to see.
