Congaree National Park

I had the pleasure of seeing this park when it was 95 degrees, 90% humidity, and the mosquito meter was a 5 out of 6! Needless so say I hike with long sleeve, long pants, and a ton of bug spray-Mosquitos love me! I was originally planning on doing a slightly longer hike, but decided against it because of the temperature. I did the boardwalk hike, which is about ~2.3 miles.

I saw lots of creepy crawlies… even a few snakes that I didn’t quite capture in a picture.

I saw lots of Cyprus knees. I had never seen something like this – where the trees roots grow straight up to survive when this area floods.

Here are some of the lake overlook where I saw a bunch of turtles swimming around

I’d like to dedicate this particular blog post to Kay Heikell. You were such an amazing person, you challenged me and our group to dig deeper into our faith. You will be missed, and your family will be in my prayers.
