Theodore Roosevelt National Park

I ended up arriving to this park a day ahead of schedule and as an answer to a desperate prayer, there was ONE site left! And the couple had just left 10 minutes before, one night early. It was too crazy to be a coincidence, since they had been turning people away all day! I woke up early the next day and watched the run rise from the Badlands overlook. Got some pretty great shots.

Now start the pictures of more bison! Here was a mostly female group hanging out right next the road. Being one of the first people in the park I think I got to see the most wildlife.DSC_0488DSC_0492DSC_0494DSC_0504DSC_0508DSC_0509

I also got to see wild horses!!DSC_0520DSC_0524

This bison was particularly photogenic – standing over on a hill with the sun at just the right height to give everything a warm light. Despite the fact that he was missing an eye he had a very kind face. Luckily he also had huge horns or I might have thought that he was super nice!

This herd of horses apparently has two new colts! I couldn’t get too much closer than this but you can see them sort of on the left! Pretty adorableDSC_0602DSC_0605

This park had some of the coolest wildlife pictures I got for my whole trip – probably second only to Yellowstone! It was a lot of fun and I definitely recommend it!
