Arches National Park

Park #6 of 9: October 2017

This is another iconic park! The last of the red rock national parks for me on this trip – and it was well worth the wait! I stayed at a small RV park in Moab, which I quickly learned is a town supported almost completely by the sheer number of tourists coming to visit Arches! It was unbelievable how many people were there even in the shoulder season! I didn’t go in to the park until the next day because I got in so late -so I decided to wake up and hike to Delicate arch for the sunrise. This was a fun hike! Challenging enough to really get my blood pumping early in the morning. And I don’t often do longer hikes before sunrise but this was worth it! There were about 15 other people there who watch the sunrise with me.DSC_0998

The arch was WAY bigger than I expected. Here are some other cool shots I got

I only had one with someone standing next to it but it does the trick! It really is massive. Once I had my fill of photographing this arch I hiked back to my car. There is a little off-shoot on this trail that has some hieroglyphics

I was planning on doing another long hike but the weather had other plans.

It came up so fast! And it was insane to see all the water that poured off of the rocks!

Once the rain finally let up I explored some of the more common areas of Arches

I was pretty satisfied with the photographs I got from this park – and it was cool to see all these arches I had only seen online in real life. They were much bigger than I expected! Even with some crazy weather the park was still a lot of fun. I have heard that Delicate arch can get very crowded at sunset – so I highly recommend the sunrise hike. Everyone was so quiet and respectful. It was one of my favorite experiences. Next stop on this trip was Black Canyon of the Gunnison in CO!
